The gate on FR201 at the FR 201 / FR 25 junction is laying on the ground. Presumably knocked over by someone (the gate on FR 25 is fine). On we go… Then at the FR 201 / FR 201A junction there is a new gate across FR 201 and it is locked
We mull over what to do… Mormon Grove? Ballantine? Cornucopia? Why not just walk up the road and see what we find. Why is it closed?
So we head up the road. We made it to just past TR 46 junction a mile and a bit from the trailhead. There was some snow on the road although not much but apparently there is a large patch of deep snow nearer to the trailhead and that is the reason the road is closed. Still a good day out and we saw nobody along the closed part of the road.
It was a little chilly when the sun was behind the clouds and the wind picked up but overall a nice day. |
