This was a great hike, albeit a lonely one despite it being Memorial Day weekend! With the closure of Upper Sabino Canyon Road again for construction, I think most peole stayed around the visitor center or hit Bear Canyon instead. Looks like the paved road won't open again until the fall.

I left the parking lot at 7.45am and headed off up Bear Canyon to reach Seven Falls by 9.30am. Quite a few folks on his stretch. Once I climbed above the falls on Bear Canyon trail, I didn't see a single soul for the next 2 or 3 hours until I saw one couple coming the other way at the Bear Canyon/Sycamore Trail intersection.

I took a couple of small diversions on this trip - one was up the Palisades Trail for about a mile, and then off to Hutch's Pool on West Fork. Saw about 6 more folks in the Hutch's Pool area before doubling back to East Fork and then Sabino Trail. Didn't see anyone else until I reached the bottom of the Phoneline! It was kinda nice having the entire trail just to me :)

Got back to the car at 5.45pm, so a 10 mile hike all told. My GPS unit logged a total 21 mile round trip. Temp was approx. 100F :)
