| no partners | | Having passed Iron Dike numerous times, I decided to hike to the Ruins with a friend. After all these years, the defensive walls are still in good shape and the outlines of the rooms, too.Views from the top are impressive - easy to see why Native Americans would build there as they could see anyone approaching their village.
We parked off FR627, bushwhacked to the cattle trough, then followed game and cattle trails until we caught the jeep road on the northeast side of Iron Dike. We followed the agave road to the top where we enjoyed the Ruins and were joined briefly by a tarantula. Views to Bartlett Dam, the road to Mormon’s Grove TH, and 201 to Mount Peeley. Great day. |
