| partners | | 4 of us got dropped off at Turkey Creek. Our friends that dropped us off hikes with us a little while. As we neared Manning Camp, it started to sprinkle. Saturday night we got our two tarps and Joel’s new tent set up and then we went to see if we could sit near the cabin and eat. The ranger was in and she invited us in to eat with her and two other workers. It was heaven sitting in the cabin instead of out in the drizzle. After dinner our ranger angel said we could sleep in a weather port since it was open and she knew the weather was going to be bad. Joel opted to test his tent while the rest of us moved. It rained Pretty heavy all night. I was so comfy in the weather port! In the morning, I went to get my breakfast out of the bear box. The ground under my tarp was very wet - so glad I had other shelter! Joel said there was a lot of water under his tent. He said it was like a waterbed. Luckily he stayed dry until he started to move around and pack. Our hike out had some rain for a bit but then it cleared and was really warm. Douglas Springs was flowing nicely. I arranged a pick up from another friend. Then we went to Saguaro corners for some well deserved food!
I especially want to thank everyone who enabled us to do a thru hike without having to do a shuttle! |
