Started at the new trailhead at Bear Canyon Picnic ground. No trail signs so take an immediate left and parallel the Mt. Lemmon highway. I mistakenly started up the Bug Springs Trail and soon discovered the error of my ways. There is plenty of elevation gain on the Green Mt trail without adding a climb out the wrong way. This trail extension and new trailhead was designed to add trailhead parking that is not in a campground. I think the trail was added because soon they will start adding an additional fee to get into the campground/picnic area, like Rose Canyon and Spencer canyon. Don't get me started.......The trail is about a mile long and joins the real trail above the campground. The trail is in fair shape with some erosion and brush, post burn 5 years ago. All in all a great day.
