| no partners | | I traveled to the Sedona area in early September this year. I had good information from the web about how to get to Cathedral Rock and missed the turn anyway, but eventually got to the spot and got a park in the lot right away, it was mid-week. A bit awesome, and overpowering at first sight. I really didn't think I would make it, but I persevered on to the (top) but the climb was scary and steep at least toward the end. There were rock markers, but unfortunately I didn't follow them well. I took a lot of water, but had already hiked 10 miles in Boynton Canyon earlier that day and got dried out and was completely spent by the time I got to the plateau were it seemed as far as anyone was going. I rested a good long time and took some really great photos of The Rock up there! The way down was equally scary, but I made it without any slips. Did I mention I'm scared of heights? I'm from Washington, DC and was on my summer vacation in Arizona. I'm including a photo or two. (as seen above) |
