| no partners | | After a twelve hour day of hustle at work I decided to head up to get some Brins Fire photos. As figured the section I was hoping to enter was already closed off. No biggie, I just headed back to Sedona for the classic Arizona hike to Cathedral Rock.
The sunset turned out to be pretty mild and went in a flash too. Nevertheless I still find the area to be very unique. On the return I met Larry Lesko (Red Rock district ranger) and his wife absorbing the views.
Date: March 15, 2006 Verde Valley, AZ - Change is in progress for the Red Rock District. Not only are we relocating to the Beaver Creek area the first week in April, we will soon have new leadership to help us settle into our new station as well! Larry Lesko is joining us as our acting District Ranger for the next several months until a new Ranger is selected.
Larry comes to us from Washington, DC where he worked over the past several years on the National Fire Plan. By no means is Larry a stranger to Northern Arizona as his prior assignment was on the Kaibab National as a Forest Archaeologist. We welcome Larry and invite you to stop in and meet him at our new location to say hello!
Ended up staying longer than expected and let me tell you... when it got dark, it got PITCH dark. On quite possibly the easiest hike around I had to dig out my gps and head lamp to figure out the route back. Off route I came across a big old medicine wheel in a daunting nook of a canyon. It was fun exploring around. Concerned that I was going to wind up in somebody's backyard I whipped out the gps. |
