| no partners | | decided we would do this tuesday, since the next couple of days had a good chance of thunderstorms
had an 0900 permit to enter the park outside of bear lake corridor
got going late morning again, but the only concern was getting a parking spot
sue set the pace on good trail the entire hike
the lower part is more open with sparse pine trees
higher up the forest is more dense with aspen mixed in
no leaves changing yet
a mile of moderate grade, a mile of switchbacks, a mile of easy grade and a steeper push to the summit
good sized summit area
views of estes park, longs peak and other mountains were smoke filled and hazy
spent about 20 minutes or so at the top then retraced our steps
i had done this hike at least 15 years ago
enjoyed it just as much this time
