My experienced hiker friends, Laura, and Machele suggested we continue past the hieroglypics up the dry creekbed. It was well worth exploring the canyon until they ncountered a rattlesnake at which point we all decided to turn back. It would be extremely difficult to assist a fellow hiker injured in this terrain. Overall, a challenging 2nd hike for me.
