| no partners | | Spent two and quarter days in Northwestern Arizona. Thursday, I went to Davis Camp Site. Friday, I went to Petroglyph Canyon and Ringbolt Petroglyph Site. Saturday, I went to Union Pass Site.
Davis Camp Site was a stroll in the park. No really, it was a stroll in the park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area. I’ve been here before but pictures were lousy due to the sun angle. I was waiting for my friend to arrive in Bullhead City so I went to Lake Mead National Recreation Area. I arrived at the perfect time. I had 15 minutes of low west orange sun, then slowly the sun faded away which gave me some different light. The low orange light worked the best and I saw a really nice petroglyph that I didn’t see last time. Glad I made it back.
On Friday we drove up towards Hoover Dam to Petroglyph canyon. Never been to this part of Arizona so It nice to see. Got a view of Lake Mead. I could see the blue lake and the white dry lake also. I got a picture of it in my photoset. We spent so much time at Petroglyph Canyon that we didn’t have enough time to find the Ringbolt site. The ringbolt site is closer to Hoover Dam. We hiked around to get familar with the area. We hiked to the top of a hill that gave us a great view. Next time, I will give it a full day so we can take our time to get to the site.
On Saturday, we looked for the Union Pass Site. My intel was that it was near the spring. We found the spring but all the rock were not good for petroglyphs. The ridge to the north that runs northeast is covered with nice dark boulders. We search and search and could not find anything. There are still a lot of areas to explore, so I will have to wait for my next trip. |
