This is a large RV park with restaurant and fairly well stocked store. There's also a fisherman's shack with a good selection of tackle and miscellaneous hardware needed for hooking up RVs and making minor RV repairs, and boat rentals. Some directions for finding the route to the TH through the maze of RV camp sites can be obtained from the person at the RV check-in shack. There is free day-use parking available in the parking strip along the lake shore in the day use area. The paved Twin Lakes Road leads 13.8 miles to this resort from the Shell Station on HW395 in Bridgeport.
The trail is well maintained with a moderate elevation gain for the 4 mile hike up to the lake. The views along the trail and at the lake made this a worthy destination. Thunderstorms were pushing their way down the canyon as I hiked up the trail occasionally sprinkling rain on me. During the heaviest sprinkle I decided to head back down the trail due to the absence of rain gear in my pack. But after going about a 100 feet I glanced back and saw a patch of blue sky in the clouds so changed my mind and continued the last 2 miles to the lake. The remainder of the hike remained mostly dry. |
