| no partners | | I was determined to do this loop and camp at Gowan camp, but Mr. Gowan did us in. Except for maybe the 1st hundred yards or so it's pretty much a non-stop bushwhack. We followed the GPS track and thankfully it saved us from getting lost. After what was around 3 hours or so we got to the washout area and had zero clue where to go. It was just bushes everywhere, the terrain kept getting steeper, and could not figure it out. We didn't want to end up on the news so proceeded to return the way we came and took Deer Creek trail down to Gowan camp. Gowan camp is stellar, particularly when the stream is running, but on this trip (6/22), there was no water to be seen.
It's baffling as there continues to be a signed Forest Service trail marker at the beginning of the trail that instills hope, but the Forest Service no longer supports this trail.
Those who have completed this loop recently have my utmost respect and admiration. Enjoy!!! |
