| no partners | | I hiked this in conjunction with Peak 4021. I hiked up to a saddle very close to Peak 4021. I hiked to the East to get a viewpoint of Peak 4081 and it didn't look too far away, maybe only 2/3 of a mile. I started off heading toward this peak while Mike B waited for me at the saddle, taking a break. Along the way, I came up to a fence and found a primitive gate that I needed to cross through. After going through the gate I found a cattle trail leading North. Then, I used a series of other cattle trails to get up the main ridgeline to the summit. The summit was about an 8 foot tall rock pile that was somewhat unstable. I didn't find a registry at a top and I didn't have an extra jar to leave. At the summit, it was about 1 hour before sunset and I heard the sounds of coyote at lower elevations around me. I got my photos and headed back to the original saddle that I started from.

From anywhere in Tucson, take I-10 East.
Follow I-10 E to S Houghton Rd in Tucson. Take exit 275 from I-10 E.
Continue on S Houghton Rd. for 6.8 miles.
Turn left on Sahuarita road, continue for 1.3 miles.
Turn right onto dirt road.
This is AZ state trust land and you will need a permit to drive in this area.
continue for 1.63 miles.
Then turn left into the wash.
Find a place to park, allowing other traffic to pass. |
