There must have been thousands of dandelions and seeing meadows full of them at sunset made it an extra enjoyable hike.
We fully intended to hike Bennett Peak (a 13er) on this trip since it's so close to the cabin. However, once we arrived we really didn't want to leave the tranquility of the cabin and the surrounding meadows. I sat on a tree stump and basically just listened to the creek and watched grass swaying in the wind for an entire day. Time well spent! Time passes a lot differently when you don't have cell service and have no distractions.
We saw a mama + baby moose, a wild turkey, several deer, endless chipmunks and a black bird on the side of the road that kind of looked like an Anhinga. I was ridiculously excited about the moose sighting but it was my first one since moving to CO. |
