| no partners | | | Took the fat bike out for a sand ride in the Estrella Foothills / Rainbow Valley. Started from Bougainvillea Park at Estrella Parkway and Calistoga Drive. Headed east/southeast directly into the sunrise on my favorite sandy two track powerline roads. Recent storms have reset the desert and deposited tons of new sand across the flatlands. Followed several familiar and some new routes to check out a potential gravel bike loop down to Bullard and Buenos Aires (aka Chandler Heights) and further south to Riggs road, a well traveled route to Quartz Peak trailhead. Stopped to chat with two gravel bike riders on Buenos Aires who gave me some great intel on the area. Surprised a bright orange wearing hunter with his dog while weaving my way through tall corn fields on my way out to Rainbow Valley road south of Queen Creek road. Very enjoyable ride this morning. |
