At Milepost 104 on the South side of UT 95 we were greeted by a gated road right where we hoped to hike. Unlike the gate at the next road West which was in the midst of a massive puddle (Noted yesterday after our House-on-Fire hike) this one was completely dry and we were able to drive in a short distance. What passed for a road was more like a faint two-track, so even though we could have driven farther, boots-on-the-ground exploring was our only interest.
While gearing up for the hike Tracey noticed a group of four deer just a little ways along the two-track, but before either of us could get a decent photo they were off in the direction of UT 95... hopefully they made it across safely. And of course they would be the only wildlife encounter on the hike.
Initially we followed the two-track until taking a detour toward Lower Mule Canyon. We didn't see any reasonably easy routes to drop into the canyon so just traversed along the edge for a short distance. From there the rest of the hike was pretty much and meandering roughly SE wherever something caught our attention. We didn't see anything of interest below where we reached an area of water pools on slick-rock, so we turned around and wandered back, albeit a bit closer to the highway.
Not much of a hike, but like the previous one it was enjoyable with temps a slightly warmer 66-75°. |
