So a group of 9 of us (Mike, Mrs. Mike, Sheri, Tom, Jim, Tracy, Mike, Bill, myself and Rocky...the wonder dog) set out at 9AM this morning. The morning was cool and somewhat overcast but it was perfect for doing this hike. As we ascended out of the canyon, we were rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding rock formations and Geronimo's Cave as well as an encounter with a very large tarantula who really didn't seem interested in joining our group. The final reward was reaching Freemont Saddle and the view of Weaver's Needle. We went a bit further and out to the needle overlook and stopped for a bite. Some of our group had to leave right from there so they headed back down, Sheri & I decided to take Peralta back down and the rest went on to do the cave trail. We saw them way up there waving a few times on our descent. They looked so tiny way up there on the ridgeline.
Once again, another great hike with a wonderful group! |
