| no partners | | I am still surprised to see six mule deer in the White Tanks at 5:12pm. I was told they are there, but it is difficult for me to believe they are able to find a living there.
I started my hike at about 4:30 on Monday afternoon. There was only one other car parked. I hike in until about 6:oo and turned around. I returned to my car by 7:15, long after dark.
The recent attack by a mountain lion in California traveled with me in the dark on my return in an almost moonless night. If deer can live here so could the mountain lion. Mountain lions, like all cats watch for patterns of behavior in their prey. Humans on a trail make a nice pattern. Every quail that flew out of its slumber roost heightened my senses. It was an exciting hike. |
