So if you want solitude on this hike, do what I did: start at dawn on a chilly Wednesday morning in December! Unfortunately the sunrise was suppressed by stratus clouds that made for overcast skies. Had I known, I would have done Capitol Butte or something. It was still a beautiful morning, and I did enjoy myself. Judging by my map, I'm listing 300 feet for the AEG.
