The route up from Pima Canyon isn’t as well defined as the Campbell side. We planned to do out and back in via Pima Canyon but when we got to the saddle we decided it would be fun to get an Uber or Lyft back to the car. The Rosewood on Rosewood Point died in the Bighorn Fire. Only a couple along the way seemed to have made it. Found my original 2006 summit log entry.

Fun day.

A nice through trip from Pima Canyon trailhead to Campbell trailhead, then Lyft back to the car. The route on the Pima Canyon side hasn’t been used much since the fire, but easy to make your way up the drainage and game trails to the saddle. Sadly the rosewood trees near the peak didn’t make it, either. Great views, though, as the clouds from the recent big storm were still lingering over the Catalinas.

We followed a pretty well established route to Rosewood Saddle, and then explored up at the peak and around the cliffs and such and then went down a drainage on the way down. Just so that Belinda could get her bushwhacking in. Super nice hiking day.

Nice short bushwhack. I always like this approach. Cause of there. It really being a trail. But I do have to say that the route is turning into something pretty significant.

wanted to check out Rosewood Point and Rosewood Point North before the sheep closure, since i did not get up on those two summits last time i was up to the saddle.

picked a pretty good route up and out of the drainage to the saddle

once you find your way up the little cliff band it is pretty smooth sailing to the summits. the second summit (Rosewood North) really has the primo views over pima canyon!

on the way back i was dismayed to see Johnny Amoleseed had visited while i was on the summits, since there appeared to be 3 times the amount of shindaggers as on the way up. i bled my way down on a more aggressive line on the bottom half of drainage, which was not as good as the way up. smooth sailing from there.

glad to finally check these off the list. very nice

Wanted to try Rosewood Point off Pima Canyon trail. The point on most maps isn't clear. We went to several place, all pretty manageable bushwhacking off Pima cyn trail. Still not sure about the exact location of the Point. Outstanding views and different perspectives of Table Mtn, Cleaver, Pusch, etc. Beautiful day.

Wow, what a hike! I have been wanting to climb The Cleaver since I caught my first real glimpse doing the Finger Rock/Pima Canyon Traverse. With the weather finally nice and cool, and off trail hiking prohibited in January, I figured there was no better time to hit the trail!

The hike description is spot on: this hike is a brutal trek through some of the worst brush & cacti that I have ever encountered. I think the plants actively tried to prevent me from summiting The Cleaver! I am not a big fan of heights and was a little freaked out by the short climb after the saddle, but there was no way I was going to turn around. The views from the top are fantastic and the hike itself unforgettable (I have the scars to prove it).

After getting back to Pima Canyon I decided I still had some energy (and blood) to spare and that I might as well hike to Rosewood Saddle. The hike to the saddle was much easier than the cleaver, but the view was not quite the same...

Out early tooling around in Pima Canyon. Finally made my way up to Rosewood Saddle. No trip to the point today....way too windy. Neat views from the saddle.
