Creek is slowing down.
Canyon tree frogs starting there songs as I left.
Very green throughout.
Noon Creek always a favorite hike!

Planned on the loop this evening.
Arrived to see a hunting group camped at the lower trailhead.
Drove up to the upper trailhead and just did the half loop and down into the canyon.
Noon Creek still flowing good, falls looked awesome!
Lightning and rain hit as I came back down the trail and followed me all the way back home.
It just won't stop storming out here ... and that's OK with me :D

Timed this short one perfectly!
Drove up as the afternoon storms were hitting the upper mountain.
Waited it out then hiked up the canyon from RTM CG as the last raindrops fell.
Wowzers ... maybe the most water I have ever seen flowing down this canyon, and I've been up this one more than once!
Went just up to the big waterfall below the Swift Trail.
There was no way around not getting into the creek to get up there so a campfire was in order when I got back at sunset. Had to get the puppies warm & dry.

Gila Valley hit hard overnight with monsoons, wanted to see if it got Noon Creek flowing.
Well it did ... and a flowin' good!
Hiked up to the upper crossing and almost couldn't cross.
Made it over then down the canyon a bit to all the waterfalls ... just awesome!!!
Super green throughout and super humid, prodigious (fricknaley) sweating.

The trail right in front of you is some times the best. -I was set on Grant Goudy Trail on the other side of My Graham, but, rain was forecast. Probably, the closest trail to Safford, chose Noon Creek to Round the Mountain left to Noon Creek Ridge down by RTM spur from 360.No flowing water, but trail is fantastic till it's confusing end at 6800 feet. I scrambled up to the ridge top to get to 7000', but fell short, and, found no trail. The last mile trail to Arcadia Trail does not exist anymore from noon Creek Ridge. I tried an old trail down from 360 seen on the map which brings you back to noon Creek campgrounds. Was a bush-wack, please do not use but got to car slowly. I had an adventure and as always loved the time on Mt Graham.

Up 302 half way :next: dropped into the canyon and up :next: back out on 302 :next: just a bit up RTM.
Met a feller on RTM and together we hiked back down. The creek is starting to pick up with snow melt and there were springy things starting along the water. Just a nice trip out with a new friend made, in my book ... that's a good afternoon in the outdoors!
I also saw my first snake of the year on the road out ... gopher snake.

Morning hike
Up #302A :next: RTM up to Marijilda Saddle and back :next: Down to upper Noon Creek :next: Down Noon Creek Canyon :next: Back up to 302A :next: Back to RTM CG.
Main goal of this trip was to see Marijilda Canyon, it looked awesome and with a light dusting of snow on the peaks.
Then down Noon Creek Canyon to a favorite waterfall for a bit.
Encountered a couple, a hunter & a family of 10 along the way. That may be the most people I have ever seen not only on this trail, but any Pinaleno trail in my life :o
The solitude sucked today ... :lol:

Met a mountain biker as I was heading down ... that was a first on this trail.

Wildflowers, strong creek flow, waterfalls, overcast skies with sprinkles, green throughout.

Started from the Noon Creek Picnic area. Could hear the roar of the creek below as soon as I got out of the truck, big snow melt flow is on!
Up #302A :next: off-trail half way up down into the canyon to the "slabs" :next: up canyon to the upper crossing :next: 2 hour sit camp for the scenery :next: back along the loop trail :next: Swift Trail to RTM CG :next: back down to the picnic grounds.
Noon Creek was flowing strong!
Had to play the risk vs reward game in the canyon due to the flow. I missed out on a few of the falls, but lived to hike another day.
Upper crossing was a challenge, had to think it out for a bit, made it across and without sliding down into doom.
Lots of big snow patches left, especially on the southern section.
Happy with my choice today, Nooner looked awesome throughout!

As expected lots of holiday people around Noon Creek, but ..... not many know about the swimming holes up the middle of the canyon :y:
Parked at RTM CG and headed up the Swift Trail for the clockwise loop. Did Not get hit by a single vehicle on this short 1/4 mile walk up the road by the 25 or so passers :y:
Took the Noon Creek trail up to the upper crossing then down the canyon to the swim holes. Spent 2 hours there swimming, sun worshiping and watching all the dragonflies and butterflies over the pool and the insane amount of tadpoles under ..... it was wonderful!
Off-trailed back up to Noon Creek trail and finished the loop down into all the holiday mountain goers.
Way too many people on the lower mountain today, but it all worked out and I now have a new fresh slight sunburn to prove it!
