When at Humboldt, might as well do Willow Spring Mtn. Grabbed my pack after my Humboldt hike and headed to a cool looking peak and then off to Willow. It was good when you found cow trails and overall not to bad in the pricklely department. There was shrub and catclaw which could mostly be avoided by going 10 ft or so either way. I chose one bad line on the way back but finished without any blood marks. Views were nice up top. Found the summit register that was placed in 2003. Better than a road walk!

I rode my dual-sport motorcycle out here to find a geocache. I figured my skills aren't up to snuff for riding down to Humboldt tank and back, so I parked just off 562 where I shed my riding gear and started my walk.

The road down to the tank is pretty steep and rocky, so I was happy with my choice. At the tank was a dozer and a barrel of fuel. Someone is working on the tank. After finding the first part of the geocache, I headed up to Willow Spring Mountain. After turning off the road, it was all cross country. I was able to get on and follow a ridge most of the way. The desert was pretty green but there were no flowers yet. I had to work my way through the normal buck brush and catclaw, etc.

There are really nice views from the summit of Humboldt Mt, Horseshoe Reservoir and Buck Basin. Unfortunately, when I took my riding gear off, I left my phone in my pants pocket back at the bike, so no pictures. On the way off the mountain, I scared up a deer. I'm pretty sure it was a doe but wasn't able to see its head to be sure.

Drove up Humboldt and looked around the summit. Drove back down to the first flat area and parked. Took a jeep trail over towards a tank and then went off trail up WSM and returned.
