| no partners | | I wanted to check out the Indian ruins overlooking Queen Valley. I tried to find it previously, but my GPS was not working so I got to the top of the hill in between Queen Valley and the hill that has the ruins. This time I made sure I knew where they were, however, I followed a previous path which was posted on HikeAZ and there was a lot of bushwhacking and boulder hopping on the way up. However, on the way down it was pretty well marked and as it turned out, it was the return path posted on HikeAZ.

| no partners | | I literally found this site on accident. I was not looking for Indian ruins in the mountains surrounding Queen Valley. The site sticks out like a neon sign on Google Earth. I just had to check it out. What I found was an amazing very large complex ruin site. The site consists of a main large perimeter walled dwelling with extensive interior rooms. Outside of the large walled dwelling are numerous smaller dwellings primarily on the south slope. There's also a small dwelling visible on Google Earth located on rugged ridge southeast of the primary site. I did not explore that outer ridge dwelling. Both sites are noted on my attached Google Earth image. Artifacts are few and far between but you can find some stuff with a keen eye. The site was likely gutted when the Whitlow Dam was constructed. That would be my guess anyways. I'm sure the engineers explored all of the surrounding hills prior to construction. This was a really interesting site. It's so big and the walls are in surprisingly good shape. I just sampled the main hilltop site. There's more to find. The pottery shards that I found were within the more obscure broken down outer dwellings. Cool stuff!
