Flew to Sacramento, rented a car and drove to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Traveled with an other couple and split car and airbnb lodging on this trip. Wanted to hike Bumpass Hell trail but it was closed because of snow (they had a heavy year). While there were a few bubbles of air on the surface of the lake it was underwhelming. Continued up the trail toward Bumpass area and turned around. Looking for something easy today, our first day, so I could get accumulated to the elevation. The rest of the group hiked Ridge Lakes Trail....1045 AEG in one mile, two miles round trip while I waited in the car.

Bumpass Hell

I had an ambitious day planned out, Bumpass Hell, Cold Boiling Lake then planned to hitchhike back to Bumpass trailhead and continue on to another hike. Bad plan, no one else in the park. So rather than waste any more time I backtracked the hikes. Enjoyable in both directions.
