| partners | | Early morning short hike today to avoid the heat. We needed 5.5 miles to reach our goal of 80 miles for September so this hike from Comino Loma Alta on the Ruiz and Coyote Creek trail would do. Very pleasant walking along the Hope Camp Trail before sun rise. Once on the Ruiz Trail we were in the sun but the temps were comfortable. Great views over Rincon Valley from the Ruiz trail. Near the junction with the Ruiz and Coyote Creek I noticed a park trail sign that indicated Hope Camp was 2.2 miles along a trail that headed due east from this junction. I have never been on this trail and the park maps don't show it, will have to give it a try. The sign also said the park boundary was .4 miles to the west, would have to be along Comino Loma Alta. Will have to check this out also.
We finished up the northern end of Coyote Creek at about 8:30 and headed back to the start point on Comino Loma Alta. It was getting a bit warm. Can't wait for some fall weather. |

| partners | | | Mark and I got out early for our hike today. It was beautiful and cool out. He planned it really well for me because once it gets warmer it is difficult to carry on. We started out before sunrise and a lot of the way back we were in the shade! The wash had very few wildflowers. Otherwise the only ones were on the barrel cactus. This was not a difficult hike. We did not see any snakes. Only a few lizards on the way back when it was warmer. |
