It was neat to see all the baby Bison. This is only my second time in Yellowstone. My previous visit was in August, and I do not recall seeing baby Bison like in this June trip.
Not only are there a lot of Bison on the trail, but also on the road. Just off the road on the way to the trail head are herds and herds of Bison. Some bison are on the road and obstructing traffic. Sometimes a ranger comes in an attempt to get the Bison to move off the road and clear traffic jams.
We also lucked out and saw a wolf just off the side of the road after the hike (while in the car). The wolf was on the prowl for the pronghorn who was crossing the road. So neat to see! It was our only wolf siting the entire week.
This wasn't my favorite hike of the week, as I found it flat and uneventful mostly, but for animal viewing it can't be beat! |
