Actually intended to hike the rock creek #42 trail but the road wasn't signed. So, we wound up at the north peak trail head and set out. This trail was pretty smooth for the most part, steep and a bit over grown in places, very enjoyable overall. It was nice to be up in the trees again. Due to time constraints we didn't hike to the peak but went about four miles down the trail before turning around. Overall, this was a very pleasant hike, but next time I'll go to the peak.

Another pleasant day in the White Tanks. I started at the waterfall canyon trailhead, hiked back to see the petroglyph plaza and the now dry waterfall, then returned to my truck to "gear up" and head off to mesquite canyon. I went up mesquite canyon to willow canyon and stopped for a short rest at willow spring before continuing on. I turned south on the ford canyon trail and proceeded to the goat camp trail. I followed the goat camp trail back to the 1st picnic area, then followed the road back to the black rock trail which connected back up with the waterfall canyon trail. This was a pretty cool loop to hike. While not terribly strenuous, it had lots of ups and downs, and twists and turns with lots of great surprises.

Wow! Superb hike. Fritski's directions were flawless. Lots of great views from this long narrow mesa. The several short little scrambles and rock hopping really make this a fun hike.

I went out to the White Tanks because I hadn't yet been there. I didn't really know what to expect from them and so I really didn't intend to do much hiking. I got a map at the entrance station, and proceeded to park near the ampitheater. After looking the map over I decided to hike up the Mesquite Canyon trail a ways just to check it out. Well, I should have known better. Once I got started I just kept going. The trail was pretty mellow over all with only two short steep sections. I went from the Mesquite Canyon trail to the Goat Camp trail. When I reached the Ford Canyon trail I followed that back around and out. The pictures that I took of Ford Canyon really didn't do it justice. This was a spectacular hike.
