| no partners | | First time doing this hike, and I would no doubt do it again.
Besides the sections of the trail with plenty of chunk, the downhill was decepively easy with a bounty of flowering plants and scurrying lizards as companions to the trail. Nearing the bottom, still pools can be seen. A little further the springs gush forth, creating a vast riparian habitat with pools of fish, moss, and all other kinds of aquatic life.At the waterfall I took the easy way down. Two large trees lay across the top right of the waterfall, directly above the large pool. A few steps and I took the plunge! Very mild cliff jump but high on my ratings because of the fantastic background and slight sketchyness.
We went just a little further and chilled out for a while. The uphill was brutal since we were wearing vibrams for the first time on the trail, we did not expect to take such a beating. We also brought NO FOOD! My buddy a half mile from the top starts getting horrible cramps and dizzyness but we made it out, although he was passed out for the whole car ride home! If the lady who gave him that apple ever reads this, thank you, you probably saved his life.
Lessons learned:
+bring swim goggles to enjoy the pools and fish
+eat a real big breakfast and bring snacks/gels/beans
+stash some water halfway down the trail if you dont have steripen. If u dont need it someone will
+Take it super easy on the downhill. Save alot for the up. Don't bring coolers. |
