This is an incredible hike. Hiked solo from Carney Springs trailhead in preparation for the Ridgeline in a few weeks. Caught up with a group from Wandering Soles and reached the summit with three guys from their group (Ryan, Matt and Jeff). The toughest part of this hike is climbing to West Boulder Saddle -- it feels like you're going straight up. From there turn left behind the big boulder and watch for the pole with a brass cap to confirm you're on the right trail. Then it's just a matter of watching for the cairns and staying on the trail. We climbed to the summit from the East then South with no problems. There are cairns directing the way between the two big stands of hoodoos. It takes some mild scrambling to reach the top but the risk was minimal. Be sure to sign the register in the red coffee can. It took about 2:35 to reach the top and about 2:25 to descend (knees were getting a bit tired on the way down). Spent about an hour at the summit eating lunch and enjoying the views. If you're on the Ridgeline, take a few minutes and bag this peak... it's well worth it.

This is a great after-work hike with awesome views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The views were especially nice today as the winds blew out the smog. It's possible to make it up and down in about an hour.

This is an awesome hike. Incredible 360 degree views across much of the state from the summit. Parts of the trail are a little challenging but we never felt at any risk. Watch closely for the first trailhead/jeep road as you come to the wash about 5 minutes from the parking lot -- the correct trail is the one to your left. There's a wood post and the remains of a large cairn just before it. We had a nice 30 minute out-and-back along the wash before we realized we'd missed the trailhead. From this point we made it to the summit in 75 minutes. As you head up the mountain, watch for the painted arrows. Unfortunately, someone was overzealous with the paint but if you follow it you'll have no problem getting to the top. When you get to the plateau, continue straight to the East to arrive at the mailbox. You'll be tempted to head left or right to one of the more obvious peaks. Coming down was fast, about 35 minutes -- just be careful in the steep areas and watch for loose scree. If you're looking for a short but challenging hike, close to town, with good elevation gain, this one's it.

This was my second time to do this hike and the first in the daylight. I hiked it in the early morning darkness with friends a year or two ago. I definitely prefer the daylight version! Made it to the summit in just over 32 minutes. I think I'll be doing this one alot more. It sure beats going to the sweaty old gym!
