Hiked this from the Sunrise Trailhead side on Via Linda. Nice day, but had some morning haze that hadn't fully burned off yet by 10 am up on the peak, so could only see to the west about as far as the 101, and could only make out Red Mountain's silhouette to the southeast. Really nice trail though if you don't mind the traffic.

This was a pretty awesome hike - I was able to complete it with my 2.5 year old son carried on my back and my dog, but would not necessarily recommend doing it this way. Lots of slippery stuff, some rocky sections that were a bit tough, and I felt like we were losing the trail every 50 feet or so until we hit the ridge.

Regardless, beautiful scenery, and lots of peace and quiet. Views were amazing from up on the ridge.

On the way up we ended up in the broad saddle just before climbing up onto the ridge. On the way down I went a slightly different way on the ridge that ended up not going near the saddle and instead coming steeply down into the west wall of the ravine, then we had to scramble our way across the boulders to get back to the main trail on the eastern side.

Nice hike - a good burn for the legs with 30 pounds of 2 year old on my back. Very quiet on top given that it was a Saturday morning and the 40th st parking lot was full. We were alone on top for about 15 minutes.
