2 nights at Bright Angel Campground and 1 night at Indian Gardens. Had an amazing time! My 4th time doing this hike, and is still hard. But the weather was on our side. Minus the flash flood and rock slide at Bright Angel.... it was beautiful!

My dad had the chance to work in Mammoth Lake, California. So I told him to drop me off into the wilderness while he had to work for the 3 days we were there. Mosquito Flat is a beautiful place! Cold, but beautiful! When we made it to the trail head, I realized I forgot my sleeping bag.....uh oh! :( So we hit the trail and it was hard, we could barley breath in this 10,500ft elevation. The trail was only 1.5 miles to the second lake(our destination), and it took us about an hour and a half. The first night we all slept in a Kelty 2 man tent, warm but very uncomfortable! The second night I slept by myself in my other tent, had more room but very cold! I went swimming in both Heart Lake and Long Lake, the water was around 45-50 degrees. I'm so used to searching for water holes here in AZ I just had to do it! We all had a tad bit of altitude sickness. But I felt better on the third day.....my friends felt worse! All in all, it was one of the most beautiful places I've been to, and had an amazing experience! Can't wait to go to the Sierra Nevadas again!

Our first time going to Crown King to try an find the Big Dipper. The hike was nice(Pretty tough coming back up with heavy packs). So we made it down to the creek, water was running very nice. I read that if you keep hiking down stream you'll run into the Big Dipper. But, no luck. We ran into a big swimming hole with steep canyon walls on each side. The water was freezing! An couldn't find a way across, except try an float our packs across...nope! We decided to wait an come back a month or two later for the water to warm up. I really wanted to hit the Big Dipper, but there's always next time!
