| partners | | | We started out this hike with cloudy skies and wondering if the weather would cut our trip short. Thankfully it only spit a little bit of rain throughout the trip and it was actually great hiking weather. I really enjoyed the hike along the river, having grown up in the desert I thought it was pretty cool to be able to step from the hard and rough desert into soft dirt and green grass. I think this hike would be even more fun when the trees are green in the spring. We did miss the trail going up the mountain and had to backtrack and bushwhack a little but once we found the trail (just find the horse hoof prints and poop) and we started making our way up the mountain. This hike really isn't that hard till the last half mile or so where things get pretty steep. I'm still working on getting back into shape and that last little bit left me huffing and puffing. But once we made it to the top it was really fun to look down at the progress we had made. We ate a nice lunch next to the arch and pulled out my binoculars to enjoy the view. This was my first off trail hike and I totally loved it and I'm already thinking about the next adventure... |
