Took a nice stroll up Mt. Elden today with a couple forestry buddies-great day for hiking in Flagstaff! Views from the top were amazing and definitely worth the climb. Saw a tiny patch of snow in the shade at the top, other than that it was all clear and dry, lots of lizards and stink bugs out lower down. Fun running down parts of the trail. Made it to the car, satisfied with a great challenging hike close to home.

Had a fun time hiking out along this beautiful riparian area for a quick 1 night backpack. The water felt great in the afternoon sun, and made for a great background sound and backdrop for this hike. After a bit of hiking, got to meet some fellow hazers (awesome to get to know and laugh with you guys a bit :) Had a fun night around the campfire and stargazing, then a nice hike out the next morning. Unfortunately, some of my time off trail claimed my tent pole which I had foolishly put on the outside of my pack, but with a bit of improvisation, all was well. All in all, this is an amazing hike in a desert oasis, and a great time to meet some fellow hikers and gear heads, cheers and happy trails, guys (and gal)!

Finally getting around to a triplog for a quick overnight backpack my best friend and I did last weekend. Weather was perfect, couldn't have asked more much better. Saw tons of people coming out as we were coming in, but nobody after about 2.5-3 miles. Cabin is pretty sweet, nice having a picnic table for "soft" backpacking. Did some early morning bouldering, played some boulder hopin lasertag, and finally left a hikeaz ad before the much easier hike out. Great trail close to phoenix, cool rugged beauty with the boulders, all in all had a great time! :)

Second solo backpack and let me say, this trail is great! Going up the rim really wasn't too bad although I have to admit I was huffing and puffing the whole way up. However, the views are spectacular at the top and more than pay for the climb. Made it to the lake just fine thanks to the cairns. Didn't see a single soul on the trail but had 2 neighbors who had boated over. Chilly but beautiful night and morning. Wish I would have brought fishing gear, there were tons of fish jumping all over just off shore  Anyways, great trip, great trail, great lake. Definitely recommend it although just remember the temp difference between the bottom and the top lol.

A little late on the triplog but I did this as my first solo overnighter two weeks ago, and boy it was amazing! The trail actually starts at the Red Rock Ranger Station south of VOC. Not much to see on the first part of the trail, but as the canyon narrows in, it is quite spectacular. Surprisingly, I only saw four small groups of people total in the two days. Camped at the rock bench, and had a good time crossing and wading in the creek which was flowing really good. Also, a good amount of water coming out of Rattlesnake canyon. The temperature was just about perfect, albeit a little chilly at night. I really could not have asked for a better first solo backpacking trip- the place was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the solitude was great. A great easy trail also for beginner hikers too. If your near Sedona/ the VOC, I would say try this short jaunt out!

Woohoo! First triplog :) My best friend and I just did this as an overnighter camping next to the box. Couldn't have been more pleased! The weather was a little hot Saturday, but not bad at all. I found out a lot about this hike through Hikearizona, your triplogs were a lot of help guys :D There were some big pools along the way, and a lot of fun boulder hopping! The Superstitions are amazing and I can't wait to go back!
