Had to bag the peak! Took the dogs and we took our time, it was a great hike and definately would like to do it again in the summer. The false peaks definately get you thinking your there though ;)

Absolutely breathtaking, but definitely a hefty price tag at $26 a person. Great pics and theres some free slot canyons you can explore within driving distance as well as horseshoe bend on the colorado river.

We camped at Lees Ferry campground and it was a great weekend!

Parsons is a great hike! Plenty of locals jumping off the cliffs, tons of loose dogs running around. We ran into several groups of loose pit bulls running around. Dont get me wrong, personally I like pits... but even the most docile of them arent the type of dogs you should just have loose running around on their own. Much less when they are scarred up head to toe lol. We have a pup and we had to be pretty cautious to keep her out of trouble.

Other then that though the trail is great, the creek is amazing, and the whole area was fantastic!

We started around 9:30 or so and finished about 1. This is a great hike and the first that made me notice the elevation gain since Ive been in Flag. Coming down Abineau was challenging and we all took a spill once or twice. I would definately recommend coming UP abineau and down bear jaw... which is the way we will be doing it from now on. Ill get my photo set uploaded at another time my pics are on another PC.

My parents came up for the weekend from Phoenix and wanted to get out a little, they arent avid hikers and their dog buster is even less accustomed then they are since hes as fat as can be so we just took our time and went in about a mile or so before turning around and heading back. The trail was gorgeous though! What we were able to see of it. Definately need to finish it in the next few weeks.

The portion I saw was fantastic.

This was a great trail. Awesome views and we ran into a black bear. 8 miles my A** though ... the road is closed 3.5 miles before the trailhead, Even though its hiking up a road, its rather steep and a decent elevation gain and turned this trip into a 14-15 mile round trip hike. 8 from the meadow to the inner basin, then 3.5 miles each way to get to the meadow.

Definately takes a lot out of it but it was still a great hike! I definately would have given it a 4 or better if it wasnt for the road being closed.

We were bored after work so decided to get out and hit a short trail, for a trail that is supposed to be easy and quick, the signage wasnt great. I missed the trail right out of the gate, then when we got to the arizona trail we walked what Im sure was further then .25 miles and never did see the other side of the loop. Then again, we probably stopped just short of seeing it. Instead, we cut across through the forest towards the ski lifts off in the distance and got a better workout to boot.

Amazing views though!! Nice quick short, afternoon hike for sure.

Being a little stiff from the hike the day before, we decided to hit something mild and laid back. It was raining out so the lava tube was a natural choice. What a cool place! Unfortunately there was a ton of people there so quite a few flashlights and it was a bit hard to get a sense of isolation as I had hoped, but it was the 4th of July weekend. I think if we ever want to take someone here we may go at night, to reduce traffic and increase isolation.

The beginning of the tube is a somewhat steep scramble down into the tube. After a short while however, it levels out and the rocks give way and get much better. For a good portion of the tube you can stand erect and walk comfortably.

Very neat!

Secret meadow ........ We couldnt find the trailhead, or any trail for that matter but its pretty obvious once you arrive where you are heading. The climb is steep and steady. It was rainy weather at the time we went. It isnt the most scenic of views but we did run into some deer and a young buck (elk) while we were leaving. Its really not all that scenic in my opinion, but the chances of running into wildlife make it worthwhile. An additional unfortunate consisted of people shooting semi automatic weapons in the vacinity, killing any sense of serenity.

I give it a 2.5.

As mentioned in other descriptions, the trail head sits next to enchantment resort. The first portion of the trail winds around the property. As you progress on the trail changes to a slightly thick sand as opposed to the dirt trail at the beginning. As you travel through the canyon it slowly comes together creating a thicker underbrush and narrowing the trail. Its a gorgeous trail for sure with great views of several sheer cliff and rock outcrops. Various vegetation and tons of wildlife scurry about. As you continue on the trail narrows and the canyons close in tighter. The trail is mostly flat up to this point but here the trail starts to gain the little elevation that this trail captures. Once you reach the end of the trail you get rewarded with some great sights of the surrounding cliffs and the valley below.

I did this short hike back in May, my first before moving to Flagstaff. Its a nice short hike with a decent climb at the end dropping you down onto crater lake. At that time it was quite empty, Im not sure if thats typical or not but it was. Temp was 35 degrees up there and somehow the frogs were still croaking.

Be carefull of the many offshoots that lead off the main road/trail.

Hitchcock is one of the better hiking areas around the Omaha, Nebraska area. Theres several campgrounds out on the west ridge and a great ridge shot of Omaha. If your in the area its worth checking it out as there arent a whole lot of choices.
