Made it up to the southeastern summit of Pass mountain. Still not sure if this is the real summit, however. Or do you need to hike the ridge to the northwestern peak to get to the 'real' summit?

Almost embarrassed to admit it, but a friend and I accidentally did the reverse of this loop back in March. We began on Peralta up to the overlook. We were actually searching for the cave trail, and followed the cairns into Barks canyon, past the creek and finally onto Bluff Springs before reaching the Peralta trailhead again. It was a few weeks after our failed cave trail attempt that I read about this hike in Carlson's book. We definitely learned our lesson that one needs to be adequately prepared before venturing out into the Superstition Wilderness.
