Sunday I made it up to west fork dark and early to get a head start to the long pools past the subway area and photograph the fall color on the way back. It seems the colors should be all at peak in a matter of days, but there is definitely an abundance of color to enjoy now. Lots of yellows and reds about halfway into the trail. Water was a bit frigid, but got used to it pretty quickly. Compared to last year at this time it looks like the colors are much more vibrant in color. If your thinking about getting your fall fix I strongly recommend this trail for the week.

I went to check out what wildflowers were out and about at the moment, and only saw a minimal amount of brittlebush. Nothing one could get too excited about either. It was a beautiful day to be on the trail and definitely felt like spring. On the way back there was a hooting great horned owl perched above the restroom facility. A nice way to end the day.

I don't know where to really put this trip log as I didn't really complete the hike to cloudview, and I didn't hike to the top of the three sisters formation. This seemed like it had the most similar areas in the photosets. My main focus was to photograph the three sisters formation from below. I've never been out to this part of the superstitions, but the scenery while driving in has prompted me to make this area a priority for exploration. It was a nice evening, got to the trailhead at about 3:20pm. There was another car at the lot, but never saw anybody come up or down the trail, and the car was gone once I returned. It was nice to have the area to myself, but the cattle had me a little on edge. Returning back in the dark was relaxing and heard the various sounds of the desert. Just a really nice way to spend an evening.

First time doing the siphon draw trail. I was weary I might have been the only one on the trail even though there were plenty of cars at the trailhead. Didn't see anybody until about a mile in. I was hoping there would have been a dramatic sunset, but the needed workout was a nice payoff. Will probably be really nice come spring if it rains like it has been recently.

Nothing spectacular this afternoon just wanted to get out and take advantage of the nice weather. Good to get the blood pumping.

This is my first trip log so bare with me. My first time on the west fork trail and it was busy. Got to the trailhead around 8:45 and the lot was almost full. At first I wasn't sure if there would be much color with the fall foliage, but after a little bit down the trail the colors were really popping. Really bright reds, pinks, oranges, yellows, and neon green/yellow. Some trees still have yet to turn but for the most part the colors were worth the solo trip. Everybody on the trail was very friendly which was nice and kept me in good spirits. The water wasn't too bad, but standing in it long enough got the feet a bit numb. Walked a little ways into the "subway" area to check it out. Will definitely have to return at some point. Really harsh light didn't help with the photos. I would recommend a trip up there if you want to see some real color. I'd say by the end of october the leaves will just be a carpet on the ground. Will try to get some photos up as I go through them.

This is a very late triplog, but I figured since I only have one posted I would go through some images to help post a few previous hikes. This was more of a photo excursion than a hike since that was my main goal. Back in February a friend and I set out to the superstitions to photograph at night hoping to try some light painting over the mountain. We arrived at lost dutchman state park about an hour before sunset to make sure we could get to the base without any visual issues. We were the only ones going up the trail and greeted plenty of others coming down. I saw some of the most extraordinary light displays this evening. Hiking back at night under a very bright half moon was a new experience. We could hear a pack of howling coyotes in the distance. My excursions to the superstitions are always memorable ones. Can't wait to get back up there soon.
