Short easy hike around Shaw Lake. There is some tree fall along the trail but not really much of an obstacle. The lake is nearly back to full after the Westfork Fire in Summer of 2013 when water from the lake was used in firefighting efforts.

Trail starts about 1/4 mile east of and opposite of the entrance to Fun Valley RV Resort. The trail goes past a dilapidated RV camping area, long abandoned. We went a little over 4 miles up hwy 433/FS 833. In another mile and a half, we would have reached Metroz Lake but gray clouds were building so we reversed our course and went down the mountain back to our vehicle. The trail connects with Decker Creek Trl and on to Trout Creek Trail for the adventurous and backpackers.

Nice little hike from Wolf Creek Pass to the foot of Alberta Peak. This hike is a section of the Continental Divide Trail. Weather conditions were great, starting at about 55 degrees F and end the hike at about 68 degrees. Lots of haze over the mountains possibly due to fires in California.
The trailhead starts near the "sign" at Wolf Creek Pass. It is a moderate climb until you get to the top of the ridge. The Wolf Creek Ski area is to the left of the trail on your way up. There is a nearly 360 degree view with mountains all the way around. Archuleta Lake is down the mountain east of the trail, Treasure Mountain is to the west. Looking south, one can see Lobo Lookout. We saw a black bear last year on this hike. The trail was moderately busy today, we met at least 6 groups along our route.
