Weather conditions were great, starting at about 55 degrees F and end the hike at about 68 degrees. Lots of haze over the mountains possibly due to fires in California.
The trailhead starts near the "sign" at Wolf Creek Pass. It is a moderate climb until you get to the top of the ridge. The Wolf Creek Ski area is to the left of the trail on your way up. There is a nearly 360 degree view with mountains all the way around. Archuleta Lake is down the mountain east of the trail, Treasure Mountain is to the west. Looking south, one can see Lobo Lookout. We saw a black bear last year on this hike. The trail was moderately busy today, we met at least 6 groups along our route. |
