Road in is as bad as ever. You'll need HC, but 4x4 isn't required. Trail was pretty muddy but in good shape till you drop in. Once in the canyon proper, large portions of the trail have been washed away and/or covered with debris by flooding in the last week - no biggie, just pick your way upstream.

Looks like the flood was pretty big, debris is up to approx 8~ feet above creekbed in sections. We started losing daylight 1-1/4 miles from the end and turned around, so I can't report on conditions any further in.

Campsites I saw all looked ok with no damage.

Plenty of water in the area at the moment, creek is flowing strong. Won't last, but should fill deep holes well in to spring. Many seeps active.

2/1, flowing well after 1/27-1/28 rains/snow.

Bit late, but here it is. Road in was sticky mud, 4x4 required and used. Never stopped raining on me the entire day. Trees down on trail here and there, washouts. Nothing too bad.

Every single possible thing that could run, was running. Water everywhere. Waterfalls on every face, trail was a creek. Barnhardt Canyon was flashing extensively all day, pushing trees the size of telephone poles downstream.

Didn't go all the way up, just went to check the falls.

Was pretty sweet!

Just a PSA that some of the features may have changed, possibly greatly. Prepare as such. It's a safe assumption that the other tech canyons in the area experienced much of the same.

This got lost in the great-data-loss-event of 2013 so I'm reposting it. 1/27-1/28 the canyon experienced a moderately large flood. Notable sights included telephone pole sized trunks being tossed downstream, and large rockfalls in to the main drainage.

See photoset here http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=23514 for a few shots of the lower canyon flooding.
