Went out for a nice hike with a friend. We are both working on upping our endurance so we decided on the 9 mile Black Mesa Loop for today. Got to the TH and left just before 8. Skies were completely overcast, and a gentle breeze made the first half of the day perfect hiking weather for the Supes. Played a bit of leapfrog with one group and saw 3-4 different groups on our way out. The clouds unfortunately began to clear around the time we finished a quick break at the stream while filtering some of the refreshing water (Much cooler than that in my pack!) Saw some great views and got in a good morning workout. Next time, we go farther!

Lots of water running and even found small falls in certain locations.

My first triplog! New to hiking here (Though an AZ native), and decided a nice solo hike to the Massacre Falls was in order. Left Crosscut TH at around 8AM and hit the overlook around 9:30. Beautiful morning and did not see a single person on my trip up or while at the falls. The falls were running with a bit of water so I decided to follow downstream and test out my new Sawyer Squeeze water filter. Tasted better and colder than the water in my pack! After hanging around by the stream and enjoying a quick snack I headed back. Saw three or so groups coming up on my way back. Over all a great morning hike for the week day, in home in plenty of time to get some work done! I only had my cellphone with me and didn't take any pictures on the hike up, but took a few at the top and on my way back. I hope to be posting more triplogs in the future!
