The creek is dry for the first quarter to half mile in, and the trail was well cared for and surrounded by green grasses from the recent rains. While approaching the wet creek, the foliage began to get more colorful. Mostly reds and some yellows. The hike is easy and gradual for the first 2.5 miles - foliage progressively getting more yellow and orange as altitude went higher. Discovered many improved areas where hikers made camp for the night. For the last mile of the hike to the Highline trail junction, the terrain gets rocky, more switch-backs, and steeper trails. On reaching the Highline Trail Junction, there is a short hike to the spring and a small area with a footbridge over the creek. We took a break here and broke out lunch supplies and enjoyed the creek. Trip down gave a new perspective on the creek and we found many locations on that were just gorgeous. Definitely do not just hike this trail, but set aside time venture down to the creek often and explore. It's really worth the time... especially with fall colors. |

Autumn Foliage Observation Moderate Trees near the creek are showing yellow, orange, and red. Very vibrant near the creek. |
