First time I did this hike. It was a lot of fun but way crowded specifically on the bottom part of the trail. At the road we continued up the trail to the actual telegraphs (Satellite towers) and the crowds fell away significantly. We did see some flowers starting to blossom but, they have just gotten started. The trail didn't seem to make it all the way up to the towers, they were all fenced off of course. We had to get off the trail and follow the road up to the top gate that allowed access to the towers. It was a great hike, though it was a bit busy.

This was a beautiful hike. My first run and a complete accident, but well worth the mistake. The canyons were gorgeous and the everything was so green. If people outside of Arizona could see that the desert can be just as green as any hill in the Green Mountains of Vermont they would be surprised. It was quiet and peaceful the entire way with the occasional hiker passing by. The flora was amazing and the views were just breath taking. We didn't complete the entire loop however, we got nervous and doubled back at the top of the trail.

This was my first Sedona hike. To begin with, the Sedona red rocks are absolutely beautiful, I've driven through them countless times on the scenic route. It's a whole different experience hiking through them however. I went on this hike with a friend and his little dog Ollie. We took our time on the trail taking in all the beautiful vistas that surrounded us. Sedona being high country is a little different than the trails in the valley because of all the pine trees and the foresty feel of the trails. There was some running water but not much, we did find a trickling brook. The shadow of the mountain was on us most of the way up so it was cool. The day didn't get much above the mid 60's either. There were beautiful orange and red natural monoliths along the way and a naturally formed amphitheater. We took a wrong turn that put us under the bridge but that was great too. On top of the bridge it was magnificent. The forest valley spread out below us like something out of a Tolkein book, and the amazing shape of the bridge was quite breath taking. We had lunch on the bridge and that was by far the best seats I've ever had for eating.

First time through this trail and my breath was taken away by the surrounding majestic beauty. I did the trail the Tuesday after the Patriots beat the Sea Hawks in Glendale. The rain we had gotten leading up the Superbowl was running down the mountainside and it was really nice to see so much gravity pumped water running in the brook. The trail starts off easy, as you go up the climb steepens. By the time I got to the cave I sounded like a bellows. Around the cave was really pretty with the rock formations reaching toward the sky and all the soil stripped off the mountainside making it look like a paved street. There is a rock formation that juts up as you hike up toward the cave and it made me think of the Throne of Swords from the Game of Thrones. I took it all the way out to the lonely pine tree. I Got some great shots of Weaver's needle by the pine tree. Overall, it was a great hike and I will definitely do it again.

I heard a lot about this trail, more importantly, a co-worker showed me pictures of genuine-ish hieroglyphs on the rocks that I couldn't find on other hikes that I had done up until this point. Once again, the Superstitions didn't disappoint. Majestic desert beauty rose up around me on all sides, taking my breath away. Beautiful vistas were at every turn. I saw cactus forests and rolling valleys of green that looked like rolling green oceans. Clear blue AZ skies accompanied me on my journey, the weather was perfect for hiking. The trail was rocky, but there were places where it would flatten out for the mountains to show themselves off. There were signs of ancient civilization in some of the rocks on the way up. One rock had perfect round holes drilled into it. This rock was used by the Apache women to grind corn and over time, the holes were ground into the rock. I even found a cactus that looked like giant gnarled old man at the top of the trail. There were some signs of water along the way too, but barely a trickle. The culmination of the trip was well worth it. A series of cascading pools running by walls of painted rocks was the reward for my effort. The hieroglyphs were there to see, but I was told later that some of them were just kids messing around. I did see some older, fainter markings which may have been genuine. Never the less it was worth the trip.

This was my first run at AZ hiking. I set out for Hidden Valley to find Fat Man Pass just to see if I can squeeze myself through it. I failed to find the pass on the first 2 trips but I guess it was 3 times the charm that I finally came across it. Hidden valley is just that, a valley. There are only 2 ways in and I entered on the end opposite the pass. The hike was easy, and the weather was great. Doing the hike three times was a great opportunity for me to get a feel for the trail, and learn my way as a newbie hiker. There were butterflies and amazing geography to behold along the entire way. There were some great views of Central Phoenix as well but no rattle snakes. I was both grateful and bummed that I couldn't find any rattlers on my first few trips because it would be cool to get a picture of one live in the wilderness, but being a newbie I could possible get myself in the kind of trouble I want no part of.
