Went with friend and her out of town family...Heard this maybe challenging to stay on the trail, and it didn’t disappoint. We did the loop counterclockwise. We got off trail 2 times once turning off of the crosscut trail and the other after the praying hands rock formation. The latter must be a common diversion as there were numerous cairns to partially guide us back. (Thank you fellow lost hikers 🙏🏼) However, it’s not a true adventure if you don’t have to find your way back to the trail 😂.

Went with a hiking friend in search of the infamous Lost Ranch...beautiful day for the hike. A few people were out on the trail coming up to the ‘ranch’ site and a few in the National trail portion...all in all not crowded which I like. Views at the top were great and the time went by fast as my hiking buddy and I caught up with each other’s lives. 😊

Followed The_Eagle’s route this weekend to partake in the cool weather of the San Francisco’s. The link between Kachina and AZT was different at Snowbowl due to the current construction of additional parking lots. The Aspen loop was rerouted at the top but still ended up on the AZT. Took a short break at Alfa Fia tank, met a couple doing a NOBO AZT trek with a detour to Humphreys. Weather was amazing, no clouds or inclement weather. Had difficulty selecting a campsite being a tad indecisive... kept plugging in until I found one around 12 miles marked with cairns about—love! It was odd having full cell phone signal with not a soul in sight. Next day was again beautiful but with a bit of cloud cover. The remaining route I only saw 2 trail runners and 2 mt bikers...I was off the trail by noon and driving back to Phx.

Was supposed to meet up with a group of hikers, but traffic slowed me down, so I missed them at the trailhead. Went out solo and caught up with them on the Sunset trail half way between Mt Elden and Heart trails. Beautiful day to say the least. The later half of Sunset was thru the remains of last year’s fire (or was it 2018). Heart trail was a little difficult to find and we ended up on some other trail but finally was able to reconnect at the Loop trail. Our adventure added a couple of miles to our hike, but more time in nature is almost always a good thing! 😊

Another beautiful day in the San Franciscos...didn’t see much as far as wildlife, moderate crowds on lower Inner Basin. Veered off of Weatherford to off trail to Doyle Peak, this was my first time offtrailing, I’m glad I was with a group. Started sprinkling once we got back to the trail, just a few spits here and there.

😊

Hiked counterclockwise, starting from the East trailhead. Camped just short of the the 3rd crossover of the West Fork. Beautiful weather a few sprinkles in the evening. Next day was even better as far as weather. Still several down trees across the trail in the East trail. The spring on the East trail was closer to the plane crash site than was noted on the map. Perhaps it has shifted this season.

A beautiful weekend for sure :D
