It was my first time climbing Battleship, so route finding was a bit tricky at times. Route Scout was very helpful for finding my way. It was about 41 degrees when I started hiking, but it warmed up fast. I was able to take off my clothes after only 2 miles. There are some steep hand over hand climbs that may be tough for some hikers. The hike down through Boulder Canyon doesn't have a trail. It's just boulder hopping down the wash. I did it in 6.5 hours. My Garmin showed elevation gain of 3,176. I loved the solitude and the beautiful views.
