After I paid my $7.00 to park, which I thought was a bit steep, I soon realized that my admission price to this magical canyon was well worth it. Once you cross the bridge, you soon are walking amoung a mature apple orchard that gives way to majestic red rock cliffs. The trail then turns and heads up the side canyon. Soon you are walking through pine trees, ferns, bamboo and other mature vegitation all the while as massive canyon walls peer down at you. The creek gurgles as songbirds enjoy the canopy of greenery as the trail winds deeper into the canyon. This was a great day to hike as I literally had the canyon to my self past the 2 mile mark. At the 4 mile point the trail enters the creek and you have to wade in knee-deep water. On this particular day I decided not to as time would not allow, but I will be back. I cannot wait to see what other secrets this awesome canyon will reveal. This has got to be one of the most beautful streamside trails in northern Arizona! |
