Myrtle's Backyard by joebartels Note
Like the popular Dixie Peak 2,429, this is not a signed trail. If the trail is signed area closed, do NOT enter. From the West #1D is the only trail that turns off Perl Charles Trail #1A in Myrtle Creek. Still wise to have a route on hand if you are new to the area. The trail is well defined and follows the Northside of Myrtle Creek.
The trail ribbons in and out of shallow ravines heading east and up the basin. Then gently turns North to an increasingly aggressive ascent up to Basin Saddle. The tread gets a little loose after major rainstorms. There's no shame in taking a break if your heart isn't winning the race up to the saddle. From the saddle, the trail drops 40 ft in elevation, turns right over to Irregular Link Trail #1C. Check out the Official Route and Triplogs. Leave No Trace and +Add a Triplog after your hike to support this local community. One-Way Notice This hike is listed as One-Way. When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example. |
