Overview
Watson Overlook is a well-designed trail to a toddler-sized overlook with great views.
Hike
The trail begins at a 4x4 steel post signed junction just 0.08 mi or 422 ft into Quartz Mine Trail. The tread is excellent all the way up. Medium-sized rock boulders and slabs alongside the trail resemble geology on South Mountain.

Within minutes views open up as you gain a pinch of elevation. Halfway up, 2-4 minutes into the hike, reflect on what you've done, and mentally prepare yourself for the path ahead. Just before the final stretch, you come to a saddle with a nice view of the NW terminus of the Sierra Estrella Mountain Range.
After a relaxing breather, dig into that final 30 feet up to the top. A 4x4 steel post marks the true Summit. Views to the SE of Hayes Peak 4,512 and Margies Peak to the South. You would need binoculars to see either.
Synopsis
Nearly any 800 ft end to end hike is worth a try. This is one of the easiest effort to rewards hikes in the Valley of the Sun.
When hiking several trails on a single "hike", log it with a generic name that describes the hike. Then link the trails traveled, check out the example.
