Re: Route Scout - Beta Testing

@joebartels I still show 4.8.04 If you're currently in the beta program mentioned in the first post, open Google Play. If it's not showing "update" either reboot and open Play or it might load in the morning if auto updates are on. Waving the phone in a figure eight pattern rarely makes a difference.

Re: RS - Reported track data differences

Elevation Sync from RS to HAZ is now off. Five or so years ago, elevation on smartphones was horrible. Now seems better than NED coordinate models, especially near cliffs and in canyons. Unlikely needed but you can still manually sync on HAZ if desired. Note, AEG won't be an exact match. There will ...

iOS 4.8.04 has an offline map bug
4.8.05 with a fix has been submitted for review

Did everything I could to get it through the moment I found out... 3h 10m ago
If a new import on 4.8.04 iOS is set to follow it will throw a few errors.
It will still work without offline maps.

Curious on response I let it breathe to hear response before mentioning... Typically what has gelled is found within FAQ . In this case the little black or hospital blue info buttons near options and such. https://hikearizona.com/full_page_help_dialog.php?ID=181 https://hikearizona.com/full_page_hel...

Re: Fossil tracks - Dripping Springs Trail

Didn't find a photo skimming through the dripping spring photosets. Would be interesting to compare.

A different article weeks ago reported a rock fall, slide or such made this rock visible. Pretty cool for such a busy trail like Bright Angel Trail.

Re: Advice on hiking to phantom in Feb or Aug?

@Gogogo
Late March thru early April and early October is typically the most sensible weather.

June through August, temperatures often exceed 100 ºF (38 ºC) in the canyon.
Late May through Early September is not the safest option for you or your children.

Friendly Heads Up - Possible Improvement If you have imported a route in RS for a future hike before 3:50pm ( 30 minutes ago ) please 1) stop and restart RS - Android tap the device back key until RS closes - iPhone double tap the home button then swipe RS up to terminate 2) start RS, delete the im...

Might take time for some to adjust, if ever too. The stats are accessed via User > Activity now. Bonus tip you can click on a plus icon on any date to start a triplog. Doesn't seem like much until you get in the habit of going that route. I just find it easier than the tiny popup calendar entering t...
