Hey folks,
I haven't been very active on the site here, especially since moving to Colorado, but am still an active hiker! I'm looking for some company on 9,470' Miller Peak next weekend (probably with a quick sidetrip to Carr Peak), via trails 107 and 103, starting at the Reef townsite on the northeast slopes of the mountain. Route's about 13 miles RT and 3000' of uphill, all above 7000'; that said, it will still be a little warm, so I'm open to starting as early as people want. The last mile of trail to the summit does follow a common border crosser route, but everything I've ever heard about the area indicates the chances of anything happening with them is pretty much zilch. Also, I might be stuffing my pack with rocks (trying to get into shape for Rainier later this summer), but if that makes me the slowest person in the group, I can dump the rocks ;)
Miller is one of the 57 ultra-prominent peaks of the lower 48 with over 5000' of prominence--for you non-peak-nerds out there, that means it has an enormous rise over the surrounding area, and views should be incredible!
EDIT: due to minor ankle sprain on my part, and schedule issues of others, think I'm gonna move this to the following weekend. Date has been changed accordingly.
~Chris

Re: Miller and Carr Peak June 15th
We'd love to have you along! Sbkelley and his wife may be joining us as well, not sure yet. Some or all of us may also end up camping at the Reef Townsite CG the night before as well. If that's the case, we'll probably need to take at least two cars...let's all touch base sometime next week and figure out how we want to do things.Fan3992 wrote:I would like to go. but where are you going to meet and car pool too?
