Reavis Ranch Nov. 11-13 2016
Some people may have a holiday on Nov. 11 (Veterans Day).
We will all know who won the election, and regardless who it is, we will all want to get away for a few days to get the future off our minds.
Reavis is popular in autumn. There should be no expectation of wilderness solitude. But there is plenty of room. It's probably hunting season. The apples will be all gone.
Superstition Wilderness regulations limit group size to 15. If more wish to go, you'll have to plan a separate trip.
Access is via 109 North (9.5 miles and 1900 feet up)
or the steeper climb via 109 South (7.5 miles and 1100 feet up).
Average high temperatures in the low to mid 60s, average lows in the mid 30s. It snowed last time I was there in early November.
There is water available for filtering.
Numerous options for day hikes are available for Saturday and Sunday.
*Clothing optional

I drove Forest Service Road 172 and 172A to the trail head Monday and the road is in good shape with no wet spots. There was a sign at the beginning of the road about road construction ahead but we saw none nor any equipment along the way.

Me and a buddy will be meandering through the Supes and will only be camping one night at Reavis. Could be Friday night, could be Saturday night. I'll keep an ear out for Chumley when we get into Reavis Valley.
See you all this weekend.

@SuperstitionGuy
We would need @nonot for that. My fires are built using the old rule of wood not longer than the forearm nor thicker than the wrist.

Clear skies all weekend long!
Highs 69-74

In short, it should be perfect!

moonrise will be before sunset and sets in the 3-4am timeframe.
We will have bright overnights!

Perfect for me. Alas, I have to do trail maintenance instead. Have fun everyone!chumley wrote:Weather Forecast!

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

I will be hiking in Friday afternoon with two compadres. I would imagine it will be dark by the time we reach the ranch, but no worries. Weather is looking pretty great, certainly nicer than when I was there a few years ago in January...

@The_Dude
I should be there by early afternoon. There will be a bright moon ... so hiking after sunset should be quite pleasant.

I love dusk hiking, especially with some moonlight! Got in a good half hour or so in the Tortolitas last night.

@gummo I would have guessed Mexico for you. Warmer weather = longer season for reptiles.
