Year 7, can you believe it??? I'm Posting this a bit earlier than Usual, but this has been on my List for a bit now and seemed like a No-Brainer for a New Year's Day Hike! Plus, I figured that with the Weather finally getting nice, some would be Eyeing this Peak! What better day to do it??? Join Us! Plenty of Heads Up Time, so put it on your Calendar! Last Year was pretty Tame, since I was still in Rehab for my Ankle, so this Year I thought we were Overdue for something a little more "Strenuous".... And it is all Off-Trail... The Good News is although there's a bit of AEG on this one, it's Short.... Hope you'll Join us for a Party on a Peak and Ring in the New Year in Style! More Details to Follow as we get Closer...

9:00 A.M. Meet Time at the "TH".... Carpooling is an Option... If people want to Carpool from the I-10 Corridor, I'm sure we can arrange that....

@BobP I didn't see that anywhere. The only link I saw was 'add me' under committed. Maybe if I turned the phone to landscape mode? Either way, it's fixed now.

If I remember correctly from Previous Years, I've Preferred No Dogs because some others may not be comfortable Hiking with them... I would hate to not have someone come simply because they don't enjoy Hiking with Dogs or are Allergic.... Sorry Larry.... @BobP I would love to see the Bartender back! @joebartels You know I'm going to be picking your Brain the whole Drive, right? I finally got my first Smart Phone in October... No more Oversized, Outdated Tablet..... I know you'll be disappointed in not being able to make fun of it anymore.....

I would prefer no dogs and I'm a dog owner myself. This is the only hike I've been on where I always see desert big horn sheep and I'd hate to miss the chance to see them because a dog scared them off.

Have you thought about maybe doing the hike solo instead of with 20 other people and then having a party on the summit? That might increase your chances of seeing a bighorn too...
Maybe it is time for an all canine annual hike. I am sure that Blanco and Cup would like to hike with Rowdy, Tugger, BrunoP and even that new guy Payton. Some place where they can chase the rabbits, watch the deer and the antelope play and where there is lots, and lots of warm water to paddle in. Just sayin...
A man's body may grow old, but inside his spirit can still be as young and restless as ever.

I am normally fine with dogs, but seeing the sheep is something I want to do again. I haven't seen sheep on most western desert peaks, but I am 2 for 2 on Saddle.
That said, a chatty group of 5 people might just keep them away, as it is.
Chances are we will be strung out, even with 15 People. I haven't really found people that have done my Events to be real Chatty, especially on the Uphill side of things. Kinda goes for the Downhill parts too if it's steep... People tend to concentrate on what they're doing.... We tend to chat when we all finally hit the Summit. We will all start out together, but there will be Hikers of different Speeds on this Hike and we just all go at our own Speed. The Rule is though, that the Bottles don't get Uncorked until everyone's Up, so the faster you get to the Summit, the longer you may have to wait. If it's Chilly, Windy or both, bring extra Clothes with that Thought in Mind. I've seen Bighorn when I've hiked with several People before, it just depends on how Skittish they are at a given Location.... Although I would be happy to see them this Time around, I'm not Expecting it. It will just be a nice Bonus if I do....

I had a feeling someone would pick up on my "Phrasing" there....
